Automotive coatings
Automotive finishes are typically a multi-layer system, comprising the primer and either 2-pac paints, or basecoat and lacquer, also known as a clearcoat.
Primer promotes adhesion, smooths the surface and provides resistance against corrosion.
The Basecoat/2K contains the colour pigments and effects of the colour.
Basecoat is primarily used for metallics and pearlescent colours and requires a clear coat over the top.
2K is for solid colours only and needs a hardener.
Both 2K and Basecoat paints require a thinner when applying with a spray gun.
The clear coat is a transparent protective layer that adds gloss and protection and is mainly used for basecoats. It has a matte finish until a clear coat is applied over the top to create a shine. ​

We can provide expert advice and precise colour matching to help professionals and enthusiasts achieve a flawless finish.

Our paints are mixed to order and are available in sizes from 500ml to 5L tins, with additional options including aerosols and touch-up pens for smaller repairs.
